Union Power Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Field Service Representative who will provide field service to members while completing requests for connects, disconnects, collections and minor maintenance with emphasis on excellent customer service while continuously remaining focused on the Cooperative's Mission and Vision Statements, and the promotion of the Cooperative's Guiding Values.
Essential Duties of the Position:
- Connects and disconnects existing or new services upon request by member/customers.
- Collects payments in the field and may disconnect services for non-payment of overdue bills.
- Accounts for funds collected in the field.
- Checks on minor maintenance service problems upon member/customer requests.
- Observes lines, services, devices and facilities (substations) and reports any discrepancies, damage or tampering to appropriate Cooperative personnel and/or authorities. In cases of tampering, begins process by recording digital images, staying onsite until law enforcement authorities arrive, describes/instructs officer(s) on nature of tampering and completes tamper report.
- Follows all safety rules for own protection and the protection of other employees and the general public.
- Maintains PPEs, equipment, tools and inventory of supplies to efficiently provide field service.
- Responds to requests from the Billing workgroup to check TWACs meters for problems.
- Searches for and brings to the attention of management, ways to improve customer service, improve processes, better utilize tools and equipment, and operate in a more efficient, cost effective manner.
- Provides assistance to other departments during troughs in activity and during major power restoration efforts.
- Promotes a positive image of Union Power Cooperative.
- Perform all duties assigned by supervision.
Work Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be familiar with electric distribution facilities and lines in order to report discrepancies and to perform minor maintenance.
- Must be able to work after normal hours for assigned call duty.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Working Conditions:
Field work in various weather conditions and terrain; limited work in general office environment; requires flexibility to work irregular hours when required; must be able to walk long distances (up to a half mile) and may be required to travel out of town to attend schools or seminars.
