Equipment Operator

Union Power Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Equipment Operator who will provide field service to members while completing requests for connects, disconnects, collections and minor maintenance with emphasis on excellent customer service while continuously remaining focused on the Cooperative's Mission and Vision Statements, and the promotion of the Cooperative's Guiding Values.



Essential Duties of the Position:

  1. Restore and repair private property damaged by Union Power operations. Such damage includes tire ruts, lawn and landscape damage, and fence repairs.
  2. Acquires needed materials to perform assigned tasks.
  3. Communicates with members and keep them up-to-date as to the timeline for repairs.
  4. Assesses the most effective ways to appropriately complete tasks.
  5. Performs land maintenance activities in and about Union Power properties.
  6. Assists in the operation and maintenance of the Cooperative's storm water facilities.
  7. Reports and/or addresses unsafe conditions.
  8. Reports equipment issues to the Vegetation Manager and fleet maintenance.
  9. Process electronic Service Orders and appropriately close them upon completion.
  10. Reports issues for resolution to the Vegetation Manager and offers solutions.
  11. Assists other departments as needed.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Work Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid class A commercial driver's license (CDL).
  3. Must be able to operate equipment for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
  4. Must be able to safely load required materials and equipment.
  5. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  6. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate verbally. Must speak proficient English.
  7. Must have basic computer skills in entering data, reading and replying to emails, and Microsoft Office products.
  8. Work in all types of weather during regular hours, after hours as needed, and be available to arrive early to district offices to perform tasks occasionally needed prior to normal business hours.
  9. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  10. Ability to read and interpret both digital and paper maps.
  11. Must be able to work independently as assigned by the manager.
  12. Must be able to exercise good judgment.
  13. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include distance and close vision.

Working Conditions:

Fieldwork in various weather conditions and terrain; requires flexibility to work irregular hours when required; must be able to walk long distances (up to a half mile) as needed.
