About Us

Hi! We are Kate and Diyan, the founders of Vetus Distillery. We hail back from Bulgaria — the homeland of yogurt, rose oil, and many more. And not in last place — rakia (a fruit brandy originated in the Balkans back in XIth century).

We are proud to be Monroe's first and only distillery, located right in the heart of downtown. Our 6500-square-foot building has been transformed through countless hours of hard work and dedication. From upfitting the plumbing and electrical, through scraping the floors to updating the walls, we poured ourselves into every detail. One of our favorite features is the bar we personally handcrafted for tastings — it's a centerpiece that reflects the care and craftsmanship we bring to everything we do.
