Council on Aging in Union County is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to advocate for the wellbeing of older adults by providing services and resources for them to live independently.
Our Direct services include:
Options Counseling - a person-centered approach to making challenging decisions.
Resource & Referral - Referral to programs and services available that aren't directly offered by our agency: Examples: Legal advice, pantries, healthcare providers, etc.
Medicare Counseling - Unbiased counseling through the NC Department of Insurance to help understand Medicare options.
In-Home Services - Assistance with personal care, household chores, errands, and respite at no cost.
Family Caregiver Support - Counseling, classes, support groups, respite breaks for family members caring for a loved-one.
Next Door Group Respite Day Program - Day program for those with memory loss to allow family caregivers a break.
Medical Equipment - Equipment offered at no cost: Wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, bedside commodes, canes, etc.
Home Safety Repairs - Wheelchair Ramps, handrails, grab bars, etc, installed by volunteers at no cost.
Incontinence Supplies - Adult disposable briefs, depends, bed pads, at no cost.
Senior Wellness Expo - Health screenings, vendor booths, wellness checks for 400-600 seniors.
Social Opportunities - Presentations, support groups, day trips, and volunteer opportunities.
