South Piedmont Community College will host a free event for members of the public interested in learning about youth apprenticeship opportunities.
Youth apprenticeships allow high school students to begin gaining work experience while also furthering their education. Students are able to complete their high school diploma and secondary certificate or degree while also earning an industry-recognized credential in their chosen career field. Many times youth apprenticeships continue on at their places of employment, advancing to higher level positions.
The event will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. on May 8 at the J. Ray Shute Community Center, 506 East Green St., Monroe, NC. Free pizza will be served.
The event takes place during national Youth Apprenticeship Week is being co-sponsored by Rohobeth Church and the City of Monroe's Good Jobs Great Cities partnership.
