Event Description:
A 2019 Gallup survey found that 1 in 7 Americans use products containing CBD.  CBD-infused oils, food items, creams and drinks have exploded in popularity since the federal government legalized hemp.  The sudden increase in CBD products has created a slew of questions for employers.

At the first Environmental Health and Safety Breakfast of the year, Dr. Lawrence Raymond , Director of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Atrium Health will answer some of those questions.  He will discuss the medical properties of cannabidiol (CBD), as well as issues of workplace drug testing.

Please join your Chamber for breakfast, make some connections, and learn about a growing trend that is likely already affecting your workplace.

Dr. Lawrence W. Raymond is Atrium Health's Director of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Attending Physician at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1995.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Occupational Medicine.

His Charlotte research focus includes medical surveillance for Hazmat teams, and prevention of diabetes and heart disease in the workplace. He served as Medical Safety Officer for Charlotte's ALERT (homeland security response team), Chair of the Medical Advisory Team of Clean Air Carolina, and Chair of the Lung Disorders Committee of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, where he is an active member of its Council on Public Affairs and Council of Scientific Advisors.
