He’ll share the dos and don’ts of not only joining a board, but how to be an effective and impactful board member.
Meet Andrew Friend, a friend who has dedicated his career to serving others with an intentional focus on enhancing the lives of older adults. As the Executive Director of the Council on Aging in Union County, his journey is one of commitment, growth, and the transformative power of leadership.
Andrew earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University at Buffalo, providing him with a solid grounding in business principles. Andrew then pursued a Master's in Health Administration from Pfeiffer University, deepening his insight into healthcare management.
Living in Stallings NC, Andrew found his anchor in life with his partner Robinson. Traveling not only broadens his horizons but also keeps him humble and fuels his spirit of service. This devotion to others finds expression in his role as the co-president of the Monroe Rotary Club, where he collaborates closely with co-president Pat Kahle, the Chamber President and CEO. Together, they are working to steer the club towards transformative community projects that uplift lives.
Andrew's leadership style is defined by an unwavering commitment to inspiring his team. He understands that the heart of successful leadership lies in igniting passion within each teammate. By fostering a collaborative environment where ideas flourish and voices are heard, he empowers his team members to exceed their own expectations. Andrew's journey, from that young department head to the accomplished Executive Director he is today, exemplifies the profound impact that a leader who values and inspires their team can have on an organization.
