Discover why the business community’s voice matters in shaping public policy, and how Emerging Leaders can make that voice heard. This interactive workshop will provide a practical introduction to civic engagement, including why businesses should build relationships with elected officials and the many ways individuals can participate, from contacting public officials and voting to serving on a board or commission and even running for public office.
Participants will then put these ideas into practice through a hands-on simulation. Working in small groups as mock public boards, they will tackle a realistic community challenge, weigh competing priorities, and collaborate on a solution.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how public decisions are made and how business leaders can advocate effectively, serve their communities, and help shape better outcomes.
Presenters: Sarah Precipe and Fred Keeter, Lumin Strategies
