Reliable Internet access is vital to growing a thriving community, and creating upward mobility for community members. Local leaders are taking steps to improve broadband connectivity across North Carolina. Join YOUR Union County Chamber for a Public Policy Panel on this important topic.
On May 12,
North Carolina Representative Dean Arp co-sponsored a bill in the North Carolina General Assembly to expand Broadband access. He will share details of the bill that would allocate $750 million to connect the 100 counties in North Carolina to broadband access.
- - The bill provides $400 million in grants to help counties close "broadband gaps."
- - There are also incentives in the bill to encourage municipalities and counties to partner with the state to expand broadband infrastructure.
Union County Assistant Manager Patrick Niland will join us to discuss the current state of Broadband coverage in Union County, and the challenges we face in increasing coverage.
Jeff Atkinson, Assistant Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at Wingate University will moderate the panel. You will also have the opportunity to ask our panelists your questions.
