  • About

Empower for Hope is a 501(c)3 based in Charlotte, N.C. who is committed to creating community, providing vocational education, and support for at-risk women to ignite economic and personal growth. Empower's handmade goods are a collaboration with artisans who are faced with poverty, domestic violence, disease, and human trafficking both locally and in East Africa. Each purchase of a crafted product is a step closer to helping artisans achieve dignity and economic independence to provide a future for themselves and generations to come.

In Charlotte, Empower for Hope partners with Project 658 and their sewing program, Make Welcome which teaches immigrants and refugees from the surrounding community to sew. Through their program, we employ women who have completed training and are ready for their own home-based sewing businesses. From the proceeds of the products we sell, we not only feedback into projects with Make Welcome but also to support the women’s sewing initiative in Burundi, Africa. In Burundi, we are currently raising money to build a community center to house a new sewing facility, agricultural training, a clean water program as well medical clinic in the coming year. We are partnering with nonprofit, Cura For The World and every dollar is utilized to move closer to a holistic solution for poverty for women and families in Burundi, the third most impoverished nation in the world.
