Hello Everyone,
During this global crisis we all have seen and experienced distress as a result of social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. It is our hope that we can bring a sense of community and hope back into the lives of our friends and loved ones if only for a couple of hours. The Center for Human Potential is sponsoring the Main Street Cruise and Curbside event on May 1st from 5pm - 7pm. Set up time is at 4 p.m. We want to thank you for being a co-sponsor and for all the amazing work you and your organization is doing within our community. This email contains details of the event, logistical information as well as very important links to information that will help you understand state and local social distancing guidelines. Feel free to share this information on your business & personal social media pages with emphasis on public safety and social distancing. MISSION: To create a sense of community and hope to those who attend this event while at the same time, promoting City of Monroe businesses, non-profits, charities and community service organizations. This event should generate additional revenues for restaurants and retailers through curbside pick-up. Non-profit, charity and community service organizations to have the opportunity to distribute information about immediate needs and their scope of work to protect and serve their clients during this crisis & hopefully generate donor revenues for their organizations.

SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES:
April 9, 2020 Social Distancing Guidelines Executive Order 131 issued by Gov. Cooper will be enforced. Retailers and restaurant owners should allow one customer per 20% of your total capacity. We encourage all participating organizations to wear masks at all times and take responsible measures to protect themselves and others from infection and spread of the virus. People attending the event should remain in their vehicles at all times. The Monroe Police Department has strongly requested that people not park along Main Street and that vehicles keep moving during the event. People are not allowed to sit or congregate on City of Monroe sidewalks or in public parking area. Citizens are encouraged to behave responsibly and not gather in groups. DISTRIBUTION OF INFORMATION / DONATION DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
Non-Profit, Charity and Community Service organizations may set-up a table or display their banner along either side of Main Street in the parking spaces between Windsor and Franklin Streets. Helping Hands will be set-up directly in front of Peddler's Paradise. We encourage organizations to provide a printed list of immediate needs for their organization, addresses for daily donation locations, a link to your website, phone and address. Also please provide information on how people can make a financial donation to your organization - you may also kindly solicit cash donations. Restaurants and Retailers are encouraged to clearly designate a PICK-UP space to deliver food or products to your consumers asking all employees to use protective equipment such as face masks and gloves if necessary.
LOGISTICS / ROUTE / ENTERTAINMENT / FILM CREW
The suggested route for cruisers will be from First Baptist Church down Main Street, right on Franklin, left on North Church Street, left on Jefferson Street, left back to Main Street. Cruisers can also enter from cross streets but keep in mind that there is no parking allowed, people should remain in vehicles and no gatherings. WDZD will be broadcasting remotely in front of the studio on Main Street. The JAM band will be set-up at Peddler's Paradise performing for people to hear from their cars as they cruise down Franklin.... DJ Joe will be set up at Franklin Court in front of East Frank Superette & Kitchen. Class of Losers Band will be on Main Street near Hilton Vineyard Wine Shop. Crowds are prohibited from gathering around entertainers - must remain in vehicles in motion. KP Films & Chain Reaction will be filming and creating a documentary of this event. They may be moving from location to the next with very expensive equipment - if you see the need please assist them when possible.

We have created a facebook page where you may post information about your business or organization. We encourage restaurants to post information about how people can pre-order food by phone, website or facebook. Also please post a link to your website on this page. We encourage non-profit, charity and community service organizations to do the same and to also share your immediate needs, donation links, information about what you are doing to serve the community and other information that you want people to know about your organization. Everyone can share the link on your business and personal social media pages and/or even create your own event page if you'd like.
