Conflict at work is inevitable. Or is it? Are there methods we can employ to deal with issues at work without turning them into all-out wars and battles?
Dealing with conflict at work is one of the most requested topics in Chamber surveys. We've invited Marlin Smith, SHRM-SC, Director of Human Resources at ConMet, to discuss some tools and communication strategies that will allow us to solve problems, improve working relationships, and increase productivity. Whether you are a manager having a performance conversation, an employee tired of dealing with "that person" at work or struggling with how to communicate with your leader, this session is for you!
Marlin D. Smith is a dynamic HR professional that is passionate about helping employees and companies find common ground for success. He has a solid background in leadership, safety, and employee culture from over 20 years in Human Resources leadership. He believes that the key to a successful employer/employee relationship is commitment: on the part of the employer to provide the best environment for employees to thrive, and on the part of the employee to bring the whole of their skills to the table to fulfill their given roles. When both parties bring their best, it's amazing what can happen!
A graduate of the University of Chicago (AB?97), Marlin is also a Dale Carnegie graduate. He currently serves as Director of Human Resources at ConMet with oversight of their U.S. plants. He and his family reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.
