She began her career in public service in 2005\, serving first as the Washington\, D.C.\, scheduler and then executive assistant for U.S. Senator Max Baucus of Montana. \n\n\n\nMontross received her master's degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a bachelor's degree in political science and broadcast communications from Appalachian State University. She has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal for their Women in Business and 40 under 40 awards.
